THINGS TO DO (INDOORS) THIS WEEK PT. 2
At the beginning of another working week, we’ve got your cultural fix covered with this little selection of arts events and resources to enjoy from the safety of your sofa…
Sofa Stage Wales
Sharing live content every day on Facebook at 3pm, 6pm and 9pm, Sofa Stage Wales have not let quarantine dampen their creativity. With poetry, play readings, monologues, music, workshops, and more, it’s a fully interactive experience as you can comment along as performers entertain you. You can visit their Facebook page by clicking here. And if you’re a creative yourself, get in touch with them!
National Theatre At Home
At 7pm every Thursday National Theatre will make one of their live recordings available to stream on YouTube for free, and then available for seven days afterwards! Tune in on Thursday 2nd April for James Corden’s Tony-award winning performance in One Man, Two Guvnors. After that productions include Jane Eyre, Treasure Island, and Twelfth Night, so there’s a little something for everyone.
Superchoir UK
If you’re after a bit of stress relief this Cardiff-based choir is inviting cooped up choristers to join them in virtual singing sessions every Thursday at 6-7pm. Not only is it a chance to connect with a bunch of like-minded singers, its also an amazing way to add a bit of culture to your week. There’s no audition or experience required — Superchoir is just about having fun and building your confidence. Membership is £12 per month, and they offer trials for just £1, plus NHS workers get free membership! Head over to their Facebook page here to sign up.
Colour Something In
Welsh artist Pete Fowler has created a series of free colouring-in sheets aimed at all ages, with interesting and eye-popping designs. Perfect for whiling away those hours in lockdown, and it’s surprisingly therapeutic! You can download them and print them off from Dropbox here.
Clwb Ifor Bach’s Sunday Sessions
The legendary Welsh venue has been forced to close its doors for the time being, but is still providing a platform for emerging and local artists and bands through its Sunday Sessions. These livestreamed gigs from the living rooms of local musicians can be watched on Instagram live every Sunday from 11am! You can watch last week’s session from Cardiff bedroom poppers Rosehip Teahouse here, and they’ll be announcing this week’s soon. You can also donate to the venue while it’s in lockdown by clicking here. You can view their Instagram at clwbiforbach.
