If being a home school teacher is becoming hard work for both yourself and your children, then why not incorporate some fun into their learning (and give yourself a break) with new online content created especially for children by Welsh Arts Company Theatr Iolo.
Keeping children entertained with education is not always an easy task, as many parents will now appreciate. However, the popular theatre group provide an array of online resources that are entertaining, interesting, and memorable for children of all ages, allowing their creativity and imagination to flow.
Your children may already be familiar with their works. Welsh language production Chwarae was performed across schools in Wales, until the remainder of the tour was cancelled earlier this year. Thankfully, the innovative company had a recording of their performance, which has been used to create an online resource for parents and children via YouTube.
Subtitles are available, however opting to view without can make the production a handy tool for parents looking to aid children in Welsh studies. A podcast is also adapted as an alternative, meaning children will be able to enjoy the immersive and delightful production in whatever format best suits. Chwarae highlights the importance of play for our little ones, and is suitable for those aged 4 and above, primarily appealing to a younger audience.
As well as stage productions, Theatr Iolo are enchanting audiences online with wonderful and imaginative storytelling for the whole family. Join actor George Williams, as he brings to life Arnold Lobel’s charming tale Owl at Home, from his garden shed!
The central character is an adorable owl, who finds friendship in the most unlikely of situations. Providing children with enjoyment as well as reflection, it is incredibly thought-provoking. The story can be talked through at home and will hopefully help children express their feelings.
Theatr Iolo also showcase several productions that are more suited to older children and teenagers. The production Transporter from writer and performer Catherine Dyson, explores themes of identity, difference, and conflict; helping viewers make sense of the world around them, and is an insightful aid for discussion around current events. Transporter is an English language production. Subtitles are again available, and a podcast will follow.
Chwarae and Owl at Home are available now http://www.theatriolo.com/iolo-online
Transporter will be available from Monday 15th June.
