Pembrokeshire’s The Little Retreat, a luxury glamping site that prides itself on the rejuvenating qualities of pairing the great outdoors with a comfy night’s sleep, has added a unique ‘feasting’ experience to its menu of activities. Nestled among the site of an old castle in Lawrenny, the boutique holiday destination welcomes Michelin-trained chef, Matt Powell, and his new restaurant ANNWN to host a series of “indulgent” and “sensuous” foodie experiences billed as a “feast for all senses”.
Over the course of four days and three nights, this culinary tailored retreat will begin each day with a hearty breakfast – delivered right to your own Geodome – before taking guests foraging for edible plants and other naturally occurring treats, as well as absorbing the sights and sounds of the coastal park in the company of an expert; canoeing along the Cleddau River Estuary, crafting and sampling Welsh gin, and finally, spending the evening under the stars in a wood-fired hot tub.
A 10-course fine-dining menu at ANNWN, its courses dependant on seasonal availability, is undoubtedly the highlight of the whole thing. True to the spirit of foraging culture, the restaurant aims to spotlight Wales’ rich ecology by giving visitors a literal taste of it. And given the site’s proximity to the Cleddau, this is definitely the place to be for Welsh seafood lovers.
