THE BIG RETREAT FESTIVAL 2022 | PREVIEW
Describing itself as “the ultimate feelgood festival”, The Big Retreat is set to return to its home of Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire in June 2022 for what will be its first weekender for three years. Founded by Amber Lort-Phillips and debuting in 2017, the fourth Big Retreat promises to be bigger than previous editions, and indeed more of a retreat, promising to offer good vibes during times where such things seem in short supply.
Says Lort-Phillips: “I’m so excited to make our first announcement on next year’s festival. This year we are working with Orchard Live to enhance our offering with some amazing musical headliners, along with the fantastic activities that focus on people’s mental and physical health. We just can’t wait to welcome the Big Retreaters back next summer to laugh, sing, dance, share their stories and look after each other as they create memories for life.”
Highlights on the 2022 lineup, with more to be announced in forthcoming months, include Dancing In The Moonlight hitmakers Toploader and festival favourites Reef, headlining on Fri 3 and Sat 4 June respectively. Rusty Shackle and Climbing Trees are just two names set to feature from Wales’ music scene, while comedy will come from hit podcasters Scummy Mummies and Dr Ahmed.
There’ll also be over 200 activities from cookery demonstrations to yoga classes to workshops, all covered under the entry fee. Expect to find the legendary Mr Motivator [pictured, left], Kim Ingleby, the Nordic Sisters, This Morning chef Juliet Sear and forager Matt Powell showing you how at these.
New attractions for 2022 include Darwin’s Den, curated by Dr Christian Dunn who will demonstrate family-friendly science experiments. Michael Perry aka Mr Plant Geek, Ellen Mary Gardening and landscape architect Marian Boswell will prove that the great outdoors can be right in front of your house. And The Roaring Fire Pit is the location for tales from some of the UK’s leading adventurers, including Jordan Wylie, Laura Bingham, Anna McNuff, Ayo Akinwolere, and Big Wave surfer Al Mennie.
With a capacity of just 3,000, and tickets rolled over from 2020’s cancelled Big Retreat, it would be a smart move to snap up tickets sooner, even with the festival some 14 months away. Go to their website on the link below to do just that.
The Big Retreat Festival, Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Fri 3-Mon 6 June 2022. Tickets go on sale on Mon 29 Mar and you can win some via the Buzz Twitter and Facebook pages next week too!
