Electronic Recycling Party @ Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
Thurs 16 Feb
“We had a night out in Wrexham once,” The 2 Bears tell Buzz. “There was a man doing press ups on the dancefloor and inviting girls to sit on his back. I hope he’ll be at the gig in Cardiff. It was a strong look.”
By the time you read this, Raf Rundell and Joe Goddard (the latter also of Hot Chip fame) will have given the world the gift of their debut album as The 2 Bears. Scheduled for a January release, Be Strong is typical fodder from them and indeed Southern Fried Records: goodtime sounds that don’t take themselves too seriously, much like their most recent single, Work, a mash-up of positive lyrics, ragtime piano hooks and infectious beats.
“We offer an uncomplicated good time,” the duo explains. “We play hot music for the party. Mostly house but all kinds of other things as well. People are just starting to catch on to the bear sound so the gigs are a lot of fun.”
This gig, which also features The Invisible and Face & Heel, is a pioneering environmental awareness drive where entry is free to anybody who brings along a small item of electronic waste (e-waste) for recycling. The recycling scheme European Recycling Platform (ERP) has organised the party to raise awareness that unwanted electronics can be recycled for free. Admission: free (see conditions above).
