The next batch of hungrily anticipated additions to this year’s Green Man festival lineup has been revealed, with headliners Ben Howard and Band Of Horses being joined by Midlake, Swans and John Cale (all of which are UK festival exclusives), plus performances from acts such as Low, Darkstar, Lau and Sam Amidon. All are forecast to muster yet another ear-tingling weekend in the beautiful Black Mountains among much more still to be announced.
Midlake have veered from convention with their second album, The Trails Of Van Occupanther, which secured their already established status as one of the leading US folk rock bands of their generation. Whilst John Cale, an abstract Welsh musician with a singular career spanning six decades, will prove a popular addition. As well as revolutionising contemporary music with The Velvet Underground, Cale has totted up a remarkable 15 albums of material.
Also announced for this year’s festival is the renowned six-piece post-punk band Swans; dominant figures in New York’s 80s no wave scene. Low are a much-loved American indie band, soon to release their eagerly awaited album The Invisible Way – their tenth album in 20 years – and with more to be announced and a host of other surprises, anticipation is already rising for the Green Man’s return.
