NATIONAL YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL | PREVIEW
They say that the youth of today is tomorrow’s future, and this is especially relevant in the industry of film. With it constantly evolving and changing, capturing the younger audience’s attention is a vital element for the film industry.
That is why the National Youth Film Festival has landed. For over two weeks, venues across South Wales will host a number of free screenings for a variety of masterpieces that Hollywood and independent filmmakers alike have created. Aimed for schools, colleges and youth groups, the festival was established to allow the younger generation to engage in the film as a form of art as well as entertainment, educating them further in the industry of the motion picture.
The films will be shown in a range of cinemas, from Newport’s Cineworld to Canton’s Chapter. Targeted at the younger audience, the festival has allowed you to travel to the small world of Epic, or venture into the spooky world of Hotel Transylvania. But if you feel you’re too old for animation, you can also check out the Oscar-nominated The Beasts of the Southern Wild and the sci-fi hit Star Trek Into Darkness.
The festival also caters for aspiring film-makers alongside film lovers, providing the chance to win a variety of short film awards, including one for “30 Second LOLs”.
So whatever your preference of film or level of interest in the industry, the National Youth Film Festival has offered a vast selection for your cinematic discovery, as well as bringing Wales that one step closer with Hollywood.
