MELODY COOL FUNDRAISER | EVENT PREVIEW
Thought the weekend was over? Escape from the mundane rigidity that Monday surely promises and slip into an evening of sweet psychedelic sounds. The Melody Cool Fundraiser on Mon 23 June boasts a kaleidoscopic selection of artists to sink into, incorporating deliciously dark humour with sparkling melodies and classic Welsh vibes. The night is being organised to raise money to help out Mel Fung, a much loved woman and member of the South Wales arts scene who has an advanced and seemingly incurable form of cancer. The money will be used to cover the costs of alternative medical treatment (not currently available on the NHS) for Mel.
Amongst the night’s acts include the hauntingly beautiful Cate Le Bon, and the distinctively quirky Sweet Baboo, noted for his unashamed indulgence in poignant lyrics and brass heavy pop.
Originally of Zygotic Mynci fame, Welsh singer Euros Childs adds rock-pop sounds with a party music twist while former band mate Richard James provides traditional Welsh folk music with a psych pop edge. Also performing are extremely talented
rockers Keys, fresh from losing their Murry The Hump shackles.
A refreshing cocktail of cosmic idiosyncrasy mixed with an emotional rawness, spread across two floors of Clwb Ifor Bach, The Melody Cool Fundraiser asks for just £15 a ticket, with the hopes of donating as much money as possible for the Mel Fung Treatment Fund. Starting from 7pm, be sure not to miss this one off night and experience this musical treat.
