Manga Saint Hilare
Gwdihw, Cardiff
Wed 14 Nov
Bubbling away in Cardiff is a largely undiscovered grime scene. With the exception of a few who have broken into the wider live-sphere, the city has been calling out for a statement event to reinvigorate the community. In true form, no one can do this better than London grime legend Magna Saint Hilare.
Manga is a figure in the movement whose influence has become pivotal. With his passion for underground music being birthed from childhood, he’s an artist who has propelled the sound to accessible heights, whilst always preserving its authentic roots. LP Outsiders Live Forever has been hailed as a benchmark – the result of exemplary collaboration, displaying beats from Bristol-based producer, Sir Hiss. Partnered with features from JME, PK and Murkage Dave, the event at Gwdihw follows suit with a DIY line-up.
Capping at just 100 tickets, Manga’s ethos of creating spaces to truly appreciate talent continues. With this event promising intimacy, the line-up consists of explosive artists including Kirby T, Maxsta, Jay0017, Deadly and Ralph Hardy. This event is being brought to us by new venture Squeeze, the product of Cardiff MCs Traxx and Motorious. With this night likely to sell out, it further proves how events like these are an essential injection into the live scene in the city.
