Ritual (Domino)

Having just headlined this year’s Green Man Festival, Jon Hopkins is now releasing Ritual on Domino, his label since the late 00s. The British electronic artist, producer and composer has received widespread acclaim for his solo and collaborative works alike since emerging at the start of the 2000s; he’s worked with artists from Orbital to Coldplay, and in 2022 composed music for Dreamachine, a multisensory immersive experience using music and light.

Ritual, a single piece made up of eight parts, is a culmination of themes explored throughout Hopkins’ 22-year career, and has been described as ceremonial; emotionally and sonically heavy, the whole is beautifully immersive, even intense in parts. At 41-minutes, Hopkins’ Ritual should be listened to in its prescribed order and in its entirety – from part I Altar through to part VIII Nothing Is Lost.
