JAMIE T
The Theory Of Whatever (Polydor)
Like so many artists from his 2000s indie cohort, Jamie T is riding a wave of nostalgia, whilst re-establishing himself as an artist of the times. Off the back of his triumphant comeback at Glastonbury (his first live show since 2017) and the 15-year anniversary of debut album, Panic Prevention, Jamie T returns with his fifth album – full of stomping, anthemic, festival-poised tracks.
The Theory Of Whatever is an album you can imagine sounding immense played live: expansive guitar hooks and countless singalong moments, balanced with songs of quiet reflection. St George Wharf Tower, 90’s Cars and The Old Style Raiders could be future classics for Jamie T. The album is also a reminder of his influence on various British artists of the past decade – there’s a bit of a Slowthai vibe on the grittier tracks – and it’s all tied together with the distinctively energetic intonation of Jamie’s South London dialect.
