Bute Park, Cardiff
Sat 29 Sept
The sun begins to set on another rambunctious festival season, and there’ve been garish shirts and flowery headbands aplenty this summer. But Cardiff isn’t quite done with us yet, as Bute Park once more plays host to another year of Inside Out Festival. Now in its third year, the electronic one-dayer has already racked up some big names throughout its short term. Annie Mac, Craig David and Chase & Status have all headed the bill previously, and this year’s lineup looks to cater to the same lively clientele.
Chart-toppers Rudimental bring their concoction of drum’n’bass, dubstep and house to the capital, whilst also billed is Mike Skinner, taking a break from fronting The Streets to bring his own helping of grimy bassline to the table. The main stage hosts a selection of grime and dub acts, whilst the D’n’b Dome sees Logan D and Mr Traumatik drafted in.
However, despite the bass-heavy nature of the festival, excellent house bookings offer some of the most notable names of the day. Big-name Detroit producer Carl Craig headlines The Other Stage, joined by O’Flynn and Scottish whizzkid Big Miz, who comes to town on the back of one of the most highly-praised electronic albums of the calendar year. All in all, a strong electronica baptism for the university freshers.
