I’M WITH THE BAND
Tim Price, whose play The Radicalisation Of Bradley Manning won him the James Tait Black Prize For Drama last month, has a brand new work touring until mid-October. This time out, its politics are presented in the form of an allegory: an indie band called The Union, so called because they comprise members from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. They are cast into turmoil when Barry, the Scottish member – you could even say he represents Scotland – quits. An action which threatens to split up the band, or (imagine me saying this bit while looking straight at you) break up The Union. Appropriately, I’m With The Band debuted in Scotland, with three weeks at the Edinburgh Festival in August. After a stint in London, it visits Ystradgynlais in September, then Milford Haven Torch Theatre (Mon 23 and Tue 24) and Aberdare Coliseum (Wed 25 and Thurs 26); Brecon, Llanelli, Neath and Aberystwyth are reached in October. As is the Welsh Millennium Centre which is showing the performance from Wed 16-Sat 19 Oct.
