Having previously postponed and rescheduled this Motorpoint Arena Cardiff show three times, Bristol’s Idles finally took to the stage ready to perform in front of a sold-out crowd.

The quintet, revered for the power of their live shows, are one of the most exciting bands around with relentless energy and a huge sound. Passionate, political and darkly comedic, Idles are back in Cardiff with their latest album Crawler.

With support from Carmarthen band Adwaith, the crowd were on a slow simmer waiting in anticipation for tonight’s headliners. Finally, with the stage in darkness, the crowd notice figures on stage and roar accordingly.

Then suddenly the auditorium is filled with red light. A frenetic wall of sound and motion greet the excited fans.

Idles’ opening song Mother chanted by the crowd, moshpit movement ensues like a tsunami of lost souls on the arena floor.

The evening progresses in fine style, with Idles classics sprinkled in with tracks from the aforementioned Crawler.

A sweaty, exciting and memorable couple of hours ensued – and this observer loved every second of it. Thank you Idles, and goodnight!
