If you’re looking for something slightly more exhilarating to do this spring, look no further than a good old fashioned ghost hunt, guaranteed to get the adrenaline flowing as well as the legs moving. On Fri 15 and Sat 16 May, you can spend a night at the very haunted Tudor Gothic Mansion at Margam Castle, from 9pm until 5am. This over 18s event costs £50 and will grant you complete access to the castle, including its most haunted areas.
If you’re an old hand at hunting ghosts, visit Fright Nights and check out their events, which are geared at adults who aren’t afraid to jump straight into the vigils, which are accompanied by mediums and paranormal experts. Upcoming events include a night at Llanthony Secund Manor in Caldicot, Mansmawr Hall in Powys and Ruthin Castle in North Wales. Prices range from £65 per adult to £200 but include one night’s en-suite accommodation, tours, vigils and ghost walks. Depending on the price it can also include a three course meal to kick the night off and breakfast to steady your nerves the next morning. You’ll probably need it. Frightnights also offer corporate events, private parties and weekend breaks (if it can be called a break) and their sister company, Teen Spirits arranges similar events for under 18s.
If you fancy a cheaper option, Creepy Cardiff Ghost Tour offers a walking tour with a mix of history, mystery, myth and legend. This is available most evenings and cost £5 per adult and £4 for concessions. Go and see how long you last, we dare you.
