FKA TWIGS
Eusexua (Young)
“Eusexua is the pinnacle of human experience,” writes FKA Twigs of her third studio album – an electronic endeavour inspired by time spent in Prague’s underground rave scene. Albeit definitely taking elements from the subculture, Twigs’ latest project is not exactly the club record one might expect, especially considering the thumping climaxes of its title track and lead single – rather, it takes an extraterrestrial view of the sweaty dancefloors and heightened experiences of ‘the scene’.
Boredom doesn’t tail Twigs’ discography, and her latest collaboration with Bangor-born producer Koreless is no exception. From Drums Of Death’s glitchy vocals-turned-percussion and menacing mutterings) to the musings of regret on Sticky, Eusexua is otherworldly yet vulnerable. Outro Wanderlust is most memorable: with her angelic soprano centered, Twigs leaves listeners a hangover to its wildest moments. “Album’s way too long though / I’d make it just the same / But with all the lyrics gone…”
