After years of speculation, two prolific musical heavyweights have teamed up to release this collaborative effort. Danger Mouse is probably best known for his work with the late MF Doom, and Black Thought is a founding member of The Roots; Cheat Codes brings together a who’s-who of hip hop talent with guest appearances from Raekwon, Joey Bada$$ and Conway The Machine amongst others.

Black Thought is the most proficient rapper on the album, with an effortless, verbose, and undeniably cool flow. No doubt he could spit bars over the sound of a tin can falling down a set of stairs, but Danger Mouse brings the warmth and with classy funk, soul and R’n’B as a canvas for him to paint with. Doom even makes an appearance from beyond the grave on Belize, which may be the last time a new collaboration will happen unless there’s some vocals stashed away somewhere.
