Rotary Club @ Kongs, Cardiff
Sat 21 July
Since their birth in Falmouth, Rotary Club have steadily imprinted themselves into the Cardiff club scene by skilfully traversing the musical planes. Next up, the likely lads are bringing another excellent double headliner to Kongs’ Level 2 room. D. Tiffany [pictured], aka Sophie Sweetland, has become extremely popular promoter fodder of late, a testament to her finely tuned skills as a producer, DJ and live act. With bookings flying in, she has been flying out across the globe, finally reaching the Welsh capital.
Hailing from Vancouver, Sweetland is part of a recent influx of producers from the Canadian Riviera, intertwining breakbeat, 90s modulations, and ambience via crunching percussion and rolling basslines. Her repertoire includes three 12”s on Pacific Rhythm, Normals Welcome and Heart to Heart, coupled with sought-after cassettes on Cacao, Genero and a stunning LP on 1080p.
A recent split EP appearance, as DJ Zozi, with exciting Aussie Roza Terenzi, has also received ravenous support for its fusion of intercontinental dancefloor sounds.
If her Cardiff set reaches anywhere near the level of interstellar communication commonplace within her mixing, it will be one to tell the grandchildren. Opening proceedings are the Rotary residents followed by their second guest, No Bad Days’ mysterious affiliate Donald Dust, who will undoubtedly deliver all punters to the cosmic realms.
