The University of South Wales (USW) is teaming up with Music Declares Emergency to present Climate Clash Cymru later this month.
Taking place on 29 March, Climate Clash Cymru is an event dedicated to innovations in live music for tackling the climate crisis.
It aims to explore ideas for making live music more sustainable, including merchandise, transport and artists’ roles in bringing about positive change.
The free event is part of USW’s Immersed! Festival at Tramshed, marking the first visit to Wales by Music Declares Emergency. This will be celebrated with a unique mural and pop-up gallery in Cardiff city centre, based on themes around ‘No Music on a Dead Planet’.
The University is working with Cardiff Council to create a mural on a wall opposite Clwb Ifor Bach, Womanby Street, by Bradley Rmer, a USW graduate who specialises in graffiti art. BA (Hons) Illustration students at USW are helping to create the mural artwork, with the winning design being chosen on 18 March.
Music Declares Emergency is a group of artists, music industry professionals and organisations including Annie Lennox OBE, Massive Attack, Fat Boy Slim, Gilles Peterson and Billie Eilish that stand together to declare a climate and ecological emergency, and call for immediate government responses to protect all life on Earth.
More than 6,000 organisations, internationally renowned artists and individuals have already signed up to the campaign, including Radiohead, the Pretenders and Billie Eilish.
Climate Clash Cymru will start at 12noon on Tuesday 29 March. To book tickets, visit Eventbrite. The event will also be available via leave stream.
