The Vaults, Cardiff Bay
Fri 20 July
The Vaults’ series of in-house promotions kicks off by welcoming German techno giant Chris Liebing into Cardiff’s transformed bank vault. Achieving legendary status through a grounding in the 90s Frankfurt techno scene, Liebing is behind notorious labels CLR and Spin Club Recordings, continuously developing his sound through his DJ career whilst keeping true to his techno upbringing.
He’s also received notable recognition for being one of the first DJs that utilized the digitalization of music and using it creatively. Due to his close connections to software and hardware innovators, his sets have been noted as having endless possibilities, coexisting between his talent to manipulate individual elements of music in real-time.
Chris founded his first label Audio in 1996 after leaving his job at Frankfurt electronic label Eye Q. Although his involvement was relatively shortlived, two of his singles for Audio (Dandu Groove and Drumcook) received worldwide recognition, solidifying the rise for the tech guru. Now over 20 years in the game, Liebing continues to bless crowds globally, delivering organic minimal techno studded with unique experimental twists.
With support from Julez Wyl and Blake Parker, plus more local talent in room two, prepare yourself for eight hours of relentless European techno groove in the depths of this unique former bank vault venue.
