BONOBO
Fragments (Ninja Tune)
Since 2000, Simon Green’s albums as Bonobo have sparkled with his characteristic talent for production. A leading British name in 21st-century dance music, his kaleidoscopic creative flair shines on Fragments, a record that sprawls with gloriously rich and slick layers and electronics.
A celebratory homage to the dancefloor amid a renewed appreciation for such spaces in the last few years, Bonobo’s Fragments – his seventh album – explores intimacy and connection through a combination of solo and collaborative tracks – such as Rosewood, with the artist’s instant trademark mixing, and Shadows, which features Jordan Rakei and has had regular airplay on BBC Radio 6 of late.
Sapien and Otomo, featuring O’Flynn, will undoubtedly feature in future live sets, and with any luck, accompanying live records such as 2019’s Fabric Presents: Bonobo. Even if your nearest club remains closed for now, Fragments offers the perfect antidote to the grey, short days of January.
