As Sherlock and The Collection film in South Wales, we will be looking forward to celebrating some other new projects that have been shot in Wales as part of our May programme of events.
Our first event will be a preview of the new Russell T Davies adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a Q&A with Russell, the producers, director and some of the cast. The preview, held in partnership with BBC Wales, will offer our members a sneak peek at the new feature length drama appearing on screen in May. A few public tickets will be on sale for the event through our What’s On page.
We will be screening a new Welsh thriller at Chapter Arts Centre on Wed 11 May. From British horror producer Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent) Dark Signal is a terrifying and blood-curdling thriller shot on location in Snowdonia with a Welsh cast and crew, including Siwan Morris (Doctor Who, Wolfblood), Gareth David-Lloyd (I Am Alone, Torchwood) Joanna Ignaczewska (The Scopia Effect, Phometrica) and James Cosmo (Game of Thrones, Braveheart, Trainspotting). It is director Edward Evers-Swindell’s feature film debut. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director, and the producer Jonas Babics.
Also on Wed 11 May we will be announcing our British Academy Cymru Games Award nominees – the games that our jury have chosen for the 4th Cymru Award for Best Game and the commendations for Technical Achievement, Gameplay Design, Sound and Music and Technical Achievement.
The Award and commendations will be presented at the annual Wales Games Development Show, which will take place this year at the Tramshed on Sat 18 June.
We will also be supporting the new Wales International Documentary Festival in Blackwood with a panel of commissioners from VICE, Channel 4, ITV, S4C and BBC discussing the type of projects they are looking for, and offering 1-2-1 sessions for those interested in making contact.
We’re also still accepting membership applications for students, career starters and branch members – find out more on our website.
