SHERMAN CYMRU RE-OPENS

Ever since its temporary closure in 2010, the anticipation for Sherman Cymru’s exciting redevelopment has continued to grow. On Sat 4 Feb, the long-awaited grand reveal is to be accompanied by an open day packed with entertainment for children, families and the general public to enjoy.

Over the past two years, Sherman Cymru has seen extensive redevelopment to its performance spaces, seating, accessibility and front of house. Alongside National Lottery and Arts Council Wales funding, money for the development has been raised by the general public and supporters of the theatre keen to see the Sherman Theatre once again becoming a centre for high-class bilingual and touring theatre, scriptwriting and learning.

As part of Sherman Cymru’s Open House, a puppet-making class takes place from 10.30am-12.30pm, while musical performances and tours of the building can be enjoyed throughout the day, storytelling in both Welsh and English at 10.45, 12.45 and 2.45, and Sherman Sherbets Taster Sessions for young people have been planned for 2pm and 3pm. The Last Supper Of The Ghosts Of The Sherman – a theatrical experience and tour round the building – includes actors from Sherman Cymru’s drama workshop and takes place all day. The evening’s entertainment starts from 7.30pm with live music from Amy Wadge and Pete Riley.

  1. Welcome back! Very impressed with the 'New' Sherman. Modernised but still retaining the atmosphere, So many memories of days and evenings spent in 'The Main' and the 'Arena' – bring back those names PLEASE!!! Looking forward to seeing the new writings/plays of the future.
