On Thursday 10th March 2016 Cardiff’s Chapter Arts Centre will be hosting a special screening of High-Rise. Included in this event will be a Q&A with director Ben Wheatley and star Luke Evans.
Wheatley is well known amongst genre horror fans for his previous works such as Sightseers, Kill List and the incredible ABC’s of Death short U is for Unearthed. All of these films contain an intelligence and dark humour that exudes through the onscreen visceral content.
His latest film is one that has caused a stir and anticipation amongst many a film and literary fan. High-Rise is the long awaited adaptation of the book written by J.G.Ballard. The story is centred on an apartment block where residents are placed on different floors based on their social status.
Welsh born Luke Evans plays the dark, brooding and aggressive Richard Wilder, a documentary filmmaker who is relegated to the second floor of the apartment block. Not content with his position on the lower levels, Wilder seeks to expose the injustice in any way he possibly can.
