The Boiler House, Cardiff
Sat 19 Nov
Celebrating 18 years behind a spray can, this is the launch night of the first solo show by Bryce Davies aka Peaceful Progress, one of Cardiff’s most prolific graffiti artists and a big part of the graffiti scene in Wales. Entry is free for those who want to experience 2400 square feet of art and a variety of new work on canvas at Canton’s Boiler House, an open graffiti studio.
Musical entertainment will be provided in the form of dub, reggae and ska from the Dub In The Pub crew, plus hip-hop, boogie, funk and soul from Dan Jose of East London’s #Unity nights, as well as a big special guest rolling in. Jstar played at the original Boiler House venue in Llandaff six years ago at the sold out Fair Play Festival. Alongside being a busy DJ who tours with top-ranking Glaswegian MC Soom T, he produces club-ready, bass-boosted reggae and digidub that bubbles with energy and catchy hooks.
He’s remixed an impressive list of artists including Madness, DJ Vadim, Mark Ronson and Major Lazer, and has found fans in the likes of Diplo and Massive Attack’s Daddy G. You can enjoy giveaways, a ‘party caravan’ and street food from Shabbanackle along with the sights and sounds – get down and soak up a bright side of Cardiff culture.
