“We’re still far from finished. This is a career to us, not a job and we work hard to keep Feeder alive. Compared to other Welsh bands, like the Manic Street Preachers, we fall slightly under the cult band category so we’re still trying to figure out where we are and how many more people we can still reach. We have so many countries we still want to visit, considering we haven’t even seen South America, and we still enjoy making music. The four years away brought a lot of life back and it feels like a brand new band!” starts lead singer and guitarist Grant Nicholas when asked about their plans as a group.
But what was the reason for the hiatus? “The initial plan was to take some time off but no one could have predicted it would have taken four years for us to return. After 20 years of the band, we felt the cycle needed to be broken, take time to consider our next step and come back when the time was right.” Being kept relatively busy writing his own solo album Yorktown Heights and mini-album, Black Clouds over the prolonged period, Grant says “it was nice doing something different and to mix it up with the acoustic stuff.”

With All Bright Electric being their ninth official album to date, why was this particular album so special for the band? “We’ve consistently tried to keep similar dynamics through the albums but with All Bright Electric, we just really like it and feel it’s one of the best we’ve made. It flows really well and as a record, it takes the audience and us on a more natural journey”.
Is grant looking forward to performing in his home country again? “Yes! We’re looking forward to getting back out there and having the opportunity to play a mix of songs and use the tour as a reminder of the new album. I’m still a firm supporter of the Newport Dragons but it’s hard to keep up just because of everything happening at the moment and having a family and children to look after. Maybe I’ll have some time to catch back up on it all one day and hopefully get a chance to watch some good Welsh games again.”
