Ciara Neligan takes a look at one of the biggest foodie events to hit Cardiff, and the mouth-watering food and drink on offer.
As the summer creeps upon us, why not indulge in the delights that Cardiff Food Festival has to offer. The annual food festival is returning to Cardiff for its 17th year and is one of the biggest events in the Welsh foodie calendar.
The festival hosts over 100 stalls filled with local, national and international produce and is renowned as one of the capital’s most popular food events. Visitors are invited to browse an array of stalls, where they can sample and buy produce from independent or family run businesses. The celebration of street food and home grown produce is an event which is suitable for all ages, with various bars, craft stalls, live entertainment and a champagne bar based on the water’s edge. This free event lasts three days, with each day offering a Producer’s Fayre, Street Food Piazza, Farmers Market and Craft Stalls, each showcasing a selection of businesses from all over the world.
Alongside all of the food aromas which will be filling Cardiff Bay’s Roald Dahl Plass, the sounds from the bandstand are sure to add to the festival vibe. From 12pm up until 9.45pm (Friday and Saturday) expect a selection of musical entertainment from a variety of bands and artists including Cardiff’s Fiesta Resistance, Donnie Joe’s American Swing and Baraka.
The festival is proudly part of Cardiff’s summer-in-the-city events programme, which is a jam packed schedule of events across Cardiff to keep everybody entertained over the summer. The festival includes the Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix, the Welsh Proms and the Cardiff Bay beach to name just a few. Over four months these events aim to bring tourism to Wales and show just what Cardiff has to offer, with The Food Festival being a highlight for many.
This weekend of foodie fun is bound to leave your taste buds tingling and is one not too be missed!
