NATA & CO
118 Clifton St, Cardiff
96 Bute Street, Cardiff Bay
Home to the famous pastel de nata this traditional Portuguese bakery offers something you can’t get in a close radius (the closest being London). Due to a demand of these products from people who have experienced them before, co-founder Mr Brito decided to bring them to us in Wales, and we’re glad he did! Rich and delicious in flavour, and also easy on the eye, these treats certainly don’t disappoint with one of their breads made with sausage pork (yes it’s actually made with sausages). What more of an excuse do you need?

COCORICO PATISSERIE
55a Whitchurch Rd, Cardiff
Dreamt up in a village just north of Provence, called Suze-la-Rousse, creator and founder Laurian Veaudour, knew he wanted to make Wales his home after visiting for a rugby match in 1999. Shame to say we lost that one, but we gained a truly magnificent patissier. Trained at Tain l’Hermitage where world class chocolate and wine is produced, Laurian is a master at what he does. Making the cakes into true works of art he ensures you can’t help but be drawn to them. Being such a highly trained patissier, it was only time for demand to increase and people wanting his products for their special day, in which he creates astonishing tiered, never before seen, masterpieces. It really is every bit of a real continental experience.

Menus change seasonally and include wines, lagers and ales selected to match all sections of the menu. The extensive menu marks Porro out as a high quality Italian restaurant: a typical pasta dish is orecchiette with romanesco, cherry tomato, chilli and parmesan, while the fish selection includes fillet of sea bream with warm salad of new potatoes, purple sprouting broccoli, anchovy, capers and chilli butter. Look out for a new Porro – with a big garden – opening soon in Cardiff, at 57 Wellfield Road.

Their Sunday roast is regularly mentioned in the Observer Food Monthly, and is served until 3pm, or until it runs out. Indeed, keep a general eye on The Landsowne Pub, as it’s more than just a pub.
