Embracing the wonderful literary world of author Roald Dahl, Cardiff Museum takes visitors on an exciting tour through the works of the illustrator that made his works come to life. Quentin Blake’s work is placed all round the exhibition room and shows a chronology of his illustrations for classic Roald Dahl novels such as Matilda and The BFG as well as more recent works like The Boy in The Dress by David Walliams. This creative and interesting event is suitable for all the family and is a must for any of Quentin Blake fans.

Celebrating the poet Tony Conran – Fri 9 Sep
Chapter Arts Cardiff presents Tony Conran’s final poem symphonies. Conran was a modernist poet whose voice reflected the social role of Welsh poetry. This evening offers recitations of his work through song, instrumental music and choral speaking by The Conran Poetry Chorus. An enjoyable event to the ear of any classical music lovers and poetry enthusiasts. Tickets include a drink and a discount when buying a copy of Conran’s Three Symphonies.

National Youth Theatre of Wales: Romeo & Juliet – Fri 9 and Sat 10 Sep
Celebrating their 40thanniversary of performances The National Youth Theatre of Wales present William Shakespeare’s classic love tragedy Romeo and Juliet at The New Theatre, Cardiff. A tale of two crossed lovers becomes a daring adventure in a more modern take on Shakespeare’s play. This event would be a sure treat to any literary admires of Shakespeare’s work or for anyone who is new to his style of writing.

If you’ve missed the chance to see Dory’s hilarious adventure at cinemas there is still a chance to catch up with all the Finding Nemo gang this week at Chapter Arts Cardiff. Thirteen years on from finding little Nemo this Pixar sequel makes a funny yet heart warming storyline in addition to the original Disney sea life tale. This film is suitable for all and is a great summer hit.

Deriving from Sheffield The Sherlocks are an up and coming four piece rock ‘n’ roll/ indie band. Having already played over 500 lives shows and supporting bands such as The Libertines on their UK tour this band intends to be best heard live. This event sees them performing at Clwb Ifor Bach and is sure to be evening of great guitar lines and quality live band atmosphere.

Welsh National Opera: Macbeth at the WMC – Sat 10 – Sat 24 Sep
The Welsh National Opera present another Shakespeare tragedy classic this week with Macbeth. This musical version of Shakespeare’s play tells the story of a man with blood on his hands who becomes king obtaining extreme power but with extreme consequences. With the musical score from the famous composer Verdi, this performance is sung in Italian with subtitles in English and Welsh. This suspenseful tale is great entertainment for an evening.

Scorch at the Sherman Theatre Cardiff – Tue 6 – Thu 8 Sep
Stacey Gregg’s award winning play Scorch comes to the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff. Inspired by recent court cases, Scorch is a story about a gender-curious teen who through the eyes of the worldwide web discovers that the real world around them is very different. Award winner of the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best New Play in 2015 this performance is an interesting watch.
