Home to artistic intelligence in Wales, the Royal Cambrian Academy are exhibiting works of ‘non members’. This exhibition at the Royal Cambian Academy, Conwy, will be displaying chosen work by artists over 16. The art on display covers a range of different themes and subjects.

Harvey – 17 – 21 Jan
Newport Playgoers Society will be performing Harvey at the Dolman Theatre, Newport. Great for kids, this witty play is about a man who thinks he has an invisible six foot-tall rabbit for a best friend.

Jack And The Beanstalk – 18 – 21 Jan
After a sell-out performance last year, Jack And The Beanstalk has returned to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The award-winning centre is one of the largest in the UK and welcomes over 700,000 visitors each year. Jack And The Beanstalk will be performed by the Wardens Amateur Dramatics Society. The Wardens have a long history of great performances and have been running since 1944.

Dick Whittington -19 – 22 Jan
Performances of Dick Whittington are being held at Princess Royal Theatre, Port Talbot. Jermin Productions launch their first ever pantomime performance, which promises to be jam packed with all the classic traditional pantomime ingredients of family fun, brilliant sets, and campy joy. The relaxed attitude to involuntary noises and movement may make the performance preferable to particular audiences.

TOY – 20 Jan
After releasing a rework of their record last year, TOY’s single third LP Clear Shot, is set to go down a treat on January 20th. Returning from a recent collaboration with Bat For Lashes’ Natasha Khan, the Heavenly Records signed TOY are set to perform at Clwb Ifor Bach. The gig is presented by Sound Nation.

The Smyths: The Smiths tribute -21 Jan
A must for any Smiths fan, as cover band The Smyths will be performing at the Globe in Cardiff. The band plays covers from the Morrissey-fronted band including Panic and Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want.

Anne Gibbs Exhibition – 21- 26 Jan
Mission Gallery, Swansea is holding an exhibition of work by artist Anne Gibbs. The Language of Clay is a touring exhibition curated by Ceri Jones. Anne models and casts work in bone china, using a bright palette of colours. The sculptural ceramics she presents, sometimes in pairs and sometimes in large groups, are punctuated with objects she has collected.

BBC National Orchestra Wales – 21 Jan
BBC National Orchestra of Wales gave its first performance in April 1928 and occupies a special role as both a broadcast orchestra and the national symphony orchestra of Wales. The Orchestra is supported by the Arts Council of Wales, and will be performing in Brangwyn Hall, Swansea.

Michael Morpurgos King Arthur -22 Jan
King Arthur is being performed at Theatr Brycheiniog. Adapted from Michael Morpurgo’s novel King Arthur, who also wrote Private Peaceful and War Horse. King Arthur is a fast moving show of adventure, telling the tale of a small boy who becomes stranded at sea and is rescued by a mysterious old man claiming to be King Arthur Pendragon. Aimed at children 7 years and over.
