My Wild Garden – Mon 7 – Sun 20 August

Now in its final week, this pop-up Wildlife Garden will inspire and teach you to make your very own wildlife-friendly garden. Funded by the participants of the People’s Postcode Lottery, the pop-up can be found next to the Education Centre in Bute Park from 10:30 – 18:00.

Fish Cake – Tues 15 August

Hosted by Fran Vaz and Sapphira Hill, this event showcases artwork of a 2D and 3D nature from Cardiff-based up and coming artists. Taking place at Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, the work is available to buy and there is also a raffle.

Terry Pratchett’s GUARDS! GUARDS! – Wed 16 – Sat 19 July

Based on the eighth Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett, watch as the citizens of the fantastical world of Ankh-Morpork sacrifice all morals for power. Showcasing at The Gate theatre, all proceeds will be donated to Ty Hapus Alzheimer’s charity.

Hairspray – Wed 16 – Sat 26 August

Starring X Factor Chicago winner Brenda Edwards and The Ladykiller’s Matt Rixon, the hit musical comes to Cardiff, featuring the cheesy songs, the 60s style and, of course, lots of hairspray.

Castell Roc – Thurs 17 – Mon 28 August

The annual festival returns for another year with a diverse range of genres (despite its name). This weekend features music from Monsters of Roc, Craig Charles and The Magic of Motown right within the walls of the historical castle.

Late Night Fridays – Fri 18 August

This Friday’s event involves music from Porthcawl Male Voice Choir to be enjoyed either on the lawn, indoors or on the terrace, with the option to purchase a strawberries and Prosecco package from the Gallery.

Grand Medieval Mêlée – Sat 19 – Sun 20 August

An opportunity to go back to medieval times with an itinerary including an archery competition and Falconry display amongst music, knights and storytelling. Castle Key holders get discounted tickets.

Aberaeron Tug-of-war – Sat 19 August

For a hands-on Saturday evening, join in with the annual tug-of-war across the harbour, where the losers are doomed to a soggy fate.

Go Dad Run – Sun 20 August

Registration for this event opens at nine on the day at the Event Hub and closes 10 minutes before each race begins. The aim is to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Orchid, CALM or Tenovus Cancer Care and get men talking about their health.

Police Awareness Activity Day – Sun 20 August

Take the chance to meet your local police force and find out a bit more about what they do. Taking place from 10am, this event is suitable for all ages.
