Tramshed, Cardiff
Tues 27th Feb – Sat 3rd March
Grab your tickets and sit yourself down for a ride that will knock your socks off. The masterpiece that is Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting is pulling into Cardiff and you won’t want to miss it.
Regardless of whether you’ve read the novel, seen the film, or never seen it at all; This is a new way to see Trainspotting. Touring from London, the Edinburgh-based production will perform in Cardiff’s Tramshed, transforming the theatre into a truly immersive experience. Rather than watching the action unfold before you, the audience becomes part of it– not forgetting the notorious toilet scene!
It’s not easy viewing. Set in 1980s Edinburgh, Scotland, Trainspotting encompasses a world of drugs, sex, alcohol and violence, amongst other “gritty” subjects. It’s got the shock factor, and it’s not surprising that the production officially sold out at the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in both 2015 and 2016.
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s not often that such a raw, organic piece of theatre comes to light. And the beauty of Trainspotting is that it’s not beautiful at all. If you are over 18 (age restrictions apply) and enjoy getting your teeth into something sobering, then you’re not going to want to miss this cult classic.
