New Theatre, Cardiff
Tue 3–Sat 7 May
George and Lennie, the iconic migrant farm workers living in the time of America’s Great Depression, are coming to Cardiff. Of Mice and Men, the story of two unfortunate people working for a dream to build their own house and live peacefully, get themselves into trouble caused by misunderstandings and the inability to explain themselves. The two men have their friendship tested when the past they ran away from follows them to their new life in California.
Dudley Sutton will be in this stage performance, playing Candy. Although Dudley is best known for his role in Lovejoy, a TV classic, he is also a fantastic stage actor who started his career in the sixties. He has starred in many of the famous plays of the time including Joe Orton’s Entertaining Mr Sloane.
The lead actors Kristian Phillips (Lennie) and William Rodell (George) are both known for their work in the BBC show Doctors, but they are no strangers to theatre. This stage adaptation of John Steinbeck’s landmark novel, considered to be one of the great American literary works, is a tale of hardship and struggle that explores the very nature of true friendship, responsibility, dreams, and tragedy.
