St David’s Hall, Cardiff
Tues 19 Dec – Sun 31 Dec
The Russian State Ballet of Siberia returns to St David’s Hall this December, to dazzle and delight audiences across another season of traditional ballet. For many, ballet season at St David’s Hall has become an integral part of their annual Christmas routine. Across two weeks, the troupe will perform three classics, accompanied by The Orchestra of Russian State Ballet.
With a wave of her wand and a sprinkle of fairy dust, the Fairy Godmother will send families to the ballet, instead of the ball, as the fairytale of Cinderella has been transformed into a ballet perfect for young and old alike. As the beloved princess transcends from rags to riches, Prokofiev’s lively score and dynamic choreography will keep everybody on their toes, quite literally.
The world’s most well-known ballet, The Nutcracker, is celebrated each year at Christmas as it illustrates all the little details that make Christmastime so significant for so many. Elegant and eminent in all its glory, the narrative follows the Nutcracker’s journey to the Land Of Sweets, ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Swan Lake, a spellbinding story of love and lust that has continuously enthralled audiences for years will round off ballet season. Tchaikovsky’s score and the technical details are extraordinary, reiterating the fact that this is truly a spectacle that cannot be missed.
