Tramshed, Cardiff
Tue 16 Jan
The Cribs have a blue plaque dedicated to them on the Wakefield Walk Of Fame. Why bother touring when you share such an accolade with Barbara Hepworth and perennial cruise-line worrier Jane McDonald? Surely, they might as well just quit whilst they’re ahead?
Despite calling their most recent album 24-7 Rock Star Shit and promoting it with funny little gimmicks including an album launch at a skatepark, The Cribs are still very much enjoying life and The Cribs’ fanbase are still very much enjoying The Cribs. It’s been nigh on 15 years since the brothers Jarman first caught the attention of A&Rs and the music press (the NME was still quite relevant in 2003, kids) and they’re about to kick off a pretty sizeable UK tour to give 24-7… a bit of a sales push and to blow off some cobwebs. Sonically, they’re revisiting the melodic racket of their debut and follow-up The New Fellas so if you enjoyed them when you were young, maybe ask for a ticket for your Xmas stocking.
This has been booked by the good people at Clwb Ifor Bach, and despite Wakefield only being a couple of hundred miles away it’s not very often The Cribs check into Cardiff, so take this chance while you can.
Tickets: £20. Info: 029 2023 5555 (BG)
